As we bid farewell to 2023, it's time to reflect on a year that brought some significant challenges to the local real estate market. The landscape was marked by another double digit decrease in transactions, making it a tough arena for many realtors. However, amidst the hurdles, Winslow Group not only weathered the storm but emerged stronger and more resilient.


Market Trends in 2023

Transactions Down, Prices Up: The real estate market in 2023 was characterized by a significant decline in transactions, nearly 20% less than in previous years. Despite this, property prices witnessed a 5% increase, creating an environment where buyers and sellers had to navigate a tighter market. The challenge became even more apparent as some buyers hesitated due to fluctuating interest rates or economic uncertainties.


Struggles in the Industry: For many realtors, these market dynamics translated into tough times. However, those with experience and resources found themselves better positioned to thrive. As expectations from buyers and sellers grew in the face of a challenging market, the ability to provide exceptional service became a crucial differentiator.


Winslow Group's Journey in 2023

Growth Amidst Pressures: In the face of these challenges, Winslow Group demonstrated growth. Despite the downturn in transactions, our team maintained steady unit sales and volume, outperforming competitors in the industry and picking up market share to finish number two in our MLS for unit volume and climbing up the ranks in dollar volume as well.


Investing in Service: Winslow Group took a bold step by willingly sacrificing a portion of net income to enhance the level of service provided to our clients. Recognizing the importance of adapting to market demands, we added a marketing team member, a video editor  and are currently in the process of hiring a dedicated marketing coordinator to further elevate our ability to promote our brand, support our buyers and market the properties we sell.


Team Expansion: One of our proudest achievements of the year was the growth of our team. In a strategic move, we hired our very first agents and they are thriving with our team. When you deliver strong service in the business it creates more opportunity.  As our capacity reached its limit, we stepped out in faith and expanded our team to continue delivering an unparalleled client experience in the ever-evolving real estate landscape. We have been able to pour into them and are finding great joy in being a part of their growth and success.


What Lies Ahead in 2024

Continuing Market Dynamics: As we look ahead to 2024, we anticipate similar market trends with prices stabilizing at more normal appreciation rates. While transactions may remain flat, the easing of interest rates is expected to bring a positive shift.


Team Growth: Winslow Group is poised for more growth in the coming year. We plan to expand our team by adding one to two more realtors and additional support staff. This strategic move aims to not only maintain but further solidify our position as leaders in the industry.


Luxury Expansion: In 2024, Winslow Group will focus on the expansion of our luxury products and services while simultaneously nurturing and growing our core client base. This dual approach will allow us to better serve our clients across all price points. Stay tuned for more on the enhanced suite of products and concierge service we are bringing to our marketplace.
